Frequently Asked Questions About Vehicles For Recovery

Back to Vehicles For Recovery

What types of vehicle donations are accepted?
Hanley Center's Vehicles For Recovery Program accepts almost all vehicles. You can donate cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, trailers and recreational vehicles. Airplane and boat donations may require a phone call to see if they meet the minimum criteria.

What if the vehicle is not running?
Your vehicle does not have to be running, but it must be whole and have four inflated tires so it can be moved by our towing operators. You will be asked to explain the condition of the vehicle. In rare cases, Hanley Center's national agent will be unable to accept some car donations when the costs of transport and processing fees exceed the auction value of the vehicle.

How long will it take to have my vehicle picked up?
All vehicle donations made to Hanley Center's Vehicles For Recovery Program are processed as quickly as possible. Typically the vehicle is picked up within two or three days after the title is received by our agent's processing center in Rhode Island. You can accelerate the car donation process by inputting information and downloading documents online. Special arrangements can be made whenever car donations must be made more quickly.

What documents do I need to donate my car?
Most states require a clear title to the vehicle and some states also require a notarized signature or additional forms to complete car donations. If you cannot locate or have lost the certificate of title, we can help you obtain the proper documentation and forms.

What if the vehicle is not registered in my name?
The vehicle does not need to be registered in your name. The name on the title may often differ from the name on the registration documents.

How much of the money generated by the sale of my donated vehicle goes to Hanley Center's Vehicles For Recovery Program?
Hanley Center's Vehicles For Recovery Program will typically receive more than 80 percent of the sales revenues.

How do I know my vehicle is in good hands once it's been picked up?
Hanley Center's Vehicles For Recovery Program uses a fully licensed and insured national agent and transportation network and complies with all federal and state regulations. By signing the title directly to Advanced Remarketing Services, our authorized agent, you are legally transferring ownership of your vehicle. When your title is received and your vehicle is picked up, you are no longer responsible for the vehicle.
